For Whom

Previously known as Oil and Petrochemical Industry Safety Course for Supervisors (OPISC). The OPISC is a mandatory training course for individuals who are contractors, managers and supervisors in the process industry

 

Assumed Skills Knowledge / Entry Requirement

Individual must be at least the age of 18 and above, with the assumed following requisites:
-Have foundational knowledge and understanding of the relevant work sector in Singapore
-Able to communicate using English proficiently at a level that is the equivalent of Employability Skills (ES) level 4
-Able to legibly write and read English proficiently at a level that is the equivalent of ES level 4
-Able to handle numbers and work around them proficiently at a level that is the equivalent of ES level 4
-Is physically and mentally fit for the task

 

Course Overview

-Identify the Workplace Safety and Health Act, subsidiary legislation and industrial code of practice relevant to the oil/petrochemical industry

-Identify hazards and control measures at the oil/petrochemical workplace, including fire & explosion hazards, chemical hazards, mechanical & electrical hazards and confined space hazards

-Provide inputs for drawing up a risk assessment matrix

-Outline a safety and health management system to ensure a safe workplace at an oil/petrochemical site

-Conduct safety and health inspection

-Implement permit-to-work systems for a petrochemical site

-Monitor and control occupational health hazards of workers

-Conduct investigation and prepare an incident report
