Apply Workplace Safety and Health in Metal Work-Mandarin
Course Duration: 9.15 hours, including 1.25 hours of assessment
Mode of Assessment: MCQ Written Assessment & Practical Assessment
Attendance Requirements: 100% for classroom and practical sessions
Course Completion Requirements: Meeting Attendance Requirement and graded as COMPETENT for both Written & Practical Assessment
Before the course was changed to the Apply Workplace Safety and Health (AWSH) in Metalwork course, it was known as the “Metalworking Safety Orientation Course (MSOC)”. Prior to working in the factory, all metalworking workers are obliged to complete the WSH training course.
The Workplace Safety and Health (Factories, Safety Training Courses order – Clause 2 (9)) stipulates that “Any worker employed in manual labour to carry out work in a factory engaged in the manufacture of basic metals, fabricated metal products, machinery or equipment and electrical machinery and equipment must undergo a safety and health training course approved by the Commissioner for Workplace Safety and Health.”
The AWSH in Metalworking course (MSOC) was planned to help construction workers learn the essential work requirements on site, ensuring better safety standards. Workers will also be taught how to respond to emergencies, and comprehend their position and tasks in the metalworking factory.By ensuring that the workers know what to do, there can be a higher level of safety and productivity in the factory.
Audience:
All foreign and local workers in metalworking before they start working in a factory.
Required Skills and Understanding:
Only those aged 18 years old and above are permitted to enter the orientation course, and are required to:
- Meet the expected fitness standard
- Capable of manipulating numbers at competencystandard on par with Employability Skills (ES) Level 2.
- Have an occupation status as a manual labourer to be employed in a factorymanufacturing of fabricated metal goods, basic metals, electrical machinery and apparatus, and other equipment.
- Be proficient in the English language (listening, writing, speaking and reading). (Applies to English Courses ONLY)
- Able to follow oral and written instructions related to work.
- Have acceptable organisational ability
