Learning Outcome :

At the end of the programme, you will be able to:

-Prepare for confined space assessment with persons involved in confined space safety management in accordance with the applicable legal and other requirements.

-Identify hazards and take measures to prevent harm to safety and health when entering and working in confined space.

-Conduct gas testing to ascertain the atmospheric condition in the confined space is safe for entry in accordance with the applicable legal and other requirements; organisational confined space programme and entry permit system.

-Participate in risk control and emergency response in accordance with legal and other requirements.

-Monitor the confined space conditions and control measures for safe working.

-Persons who want to obtain the knowledge to be competent for taking up the appointment of a confined space safety assessor

-Workplace Safety and Health (WSH) professionals such as WSH Coordinators, Officers, and Auditors

-Occupational Hygiene (OH) professionals such as OH Technicians

 

Assumed Skills Knowledge / Entry Requirement

-Recommended to complete the WSQ Supervise Work in Confined Space Operation course
-Individual must be at least the age of 18 and above, with the assumed following requisites:
-Have foundational knowledge and understanding of the relevant work sector in Singapore
-Able to communicate using English proficiently at a level that is the equivalent of Employability Skills (ES) level 4
-Able to legibly write and read English proficiently at a level that is the equivalent of ES level 4
-Able to handle numbers and work around them proficiently at a level that is the equivalent of ES level 4
-Is physically and mentally fit for the task

 

Course Overview

This unit covers basic principles in working within/around confined space. It includes the knowledge and skills for the use of appropriate gas testing equipment and methods to obtain representative results for the assessment of atmospheric condition in confined space for safe entry and work. The skill and knowledge covered will enable the learners to be appointed as confined space safety assessor under the relevant regulations.
