observe and apply safety practices, identify hazards related to lifting operations, select and use appropriate slinging method and rigging equipment, apply rigging techniques to the load, direct the load to its destination with safe lifting techniques, and report any damage and defects on communication equipment, crane, lifting gear and accessories.

Assumed Skills Knowledge / Entry Requirement

- Learners must be above 18 years of age and are assumed to:
-Have a basic knowledge of the relevant sector of work
-Be able to listen and speak English at a proficiency level equivalent to the
Employability Skills (ES) level 2 (Applies to English Courses ONLY)
-Be able to read and write English at a proficiency level equivalent to ES level 2 (Applies to English Courses ONLY)
-Be able to manipulate numbers at a proficiency level equivalent to ES level 2; and 
-Be medically fit

 

Course Overview

The Perform Rigger and Signalman Tasks Course is aimed at providing you with the knowledge and skills to prepare and to tie the load for safe lifting by any form of lifting equipment using correct and clear signals to guide the crane operator in the maneuvering of a load safely to its destination.
