Learning outcome

At the end of the programme, you will be able to:

-Explain and interpret salient WSH legislations and other requirements relevant to the construction industry

-Describe the WSH duties and responsibilities of a supervisor in the construction industry

-Assist in safety and health planning and organisation at the worksite

-Identify WSH hazards, evaluate and control risks in the construction industry in accordance with risk management process

-Carry out WSH inspections in accordance with organizational inspection procedures

-Conduct an incident investigation and prepare a report in accordance with legal requirements and other organisational requirements

 

For Whom

This unit will be relevant to Construction Site Supervisor, Clerk-of work, Foreman, Site engineer, WSH Coordinator, WSH Supervisor or individuals who undertake the role of a supervisor in the construction industry.

 

Assumed skills knowledge / Entry Requirement

- Have a Level 4 and above or equivalent standard in Employability Skills (ES) Workplace Literacy and Numeracy (WPLN).

 

Course overview

The purpose of this Competency Unit is to enable the WSH Coordinator or Supervisor to acquire the knowledge and be equipped with the application skills to supervise WSH in the construction industry. This Competency Unit is designed to focus on building the competency of the WSH Coordinator or Supervisor in identifying the common hazards and risks in the workplace and taking appropriate control measures in supervising WSH in the construction industry.
