Learners begin with a foundational understanding of the key morphological features, species diversity, and life stages of commercially farmed mud crabs.
Biosecurity, Disease Management, and Waste Management
Building on the biological fundamentals, this unit focuses on biosecurity measures, disease prevention, and management protocols to ensure mud crab health.
Feed and Water Quality Management addresses water quality parameters and their impact on mud crab health, survival, and productivity. It includes feeding schedules, nutritional management, and practical demonstrations of test kits and feeding techniques.
Moulting and Post-Harvest Practices explore moulting cycles and post-harvest practices to maximize product quality and market value.
Integrated Practice consolidates knowledge and skills from all prior units in a simulated aquaculture scenario. Learners apply health management, water quality monitoring, feeding techniques, and safe harvesting practices in a holistic environment
